La Palma has one airport, situated close to Santa Cruz de la Palma, the capital of the island, at 35 km from Tijarafe.
At this moment the airport is being extended to improve the air links with the other islands and with the regions on the continent.
If you choose to come by plane for your holidays in La Palma, we are at barely 25 minutes flight from Tenerife or 1 hour from the most eastern island. If you travel from mainland Spain, there are direct flights from Madrid with a duration of about three hours, or with a stop-over in Tenerife. As regards the international flight connections, the direct connections are at this moment limited to some European countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium or Switzerland. The offer will be widened still with the extension of the airport.

La Palma can boast to have one of the historically most important ports of Spain, as in the past it was an obligatory stop on the transatlantic route between the old Europe and the New World. Today it continues to be a port of some importance, as a stop for a large part of the cruiseships that navigate in our waters. The Port of Santa Cruz de la Palma offers daily maritime connections with the other islands, while there is also a weekly connection to Cadiz in mainland Spain. All these ships offer the possibility to take luggage and a vehicle.
