On the Western side of the Canary Islands, on the beautiful island of la Palma, there is the peaceful village of Tijarafe with its precious landscapes and enviable climate.

It is a mostly rural municipality and its population of 2.700 inhabitants is dispersed all over the territory. You could say that this spot is a peaceful backwater and a gift for the senses of everybody who loves nature. 

The whole island is a dream for hikers. All paths are very well signposted and there are long, medium and short walks. Tijarafe can be your starting point to discover any part of the island:

• In a bit over an hour you can reach the Roque de los Muchachos with its unique and awesome beauty.
• Within half an hour you find the entry of the Caldera de Taburiente with its spectacular views.
• Within 45 minutes you get to the impressive Ruta de los Volcanes.
• Within 20 minutes you reach the best beach of the island: the beach of the Puerto de Tazacorte.
• Furthermore, you can visit the gorgeous ocean coves that are scattered all along the coast, like El Porís de Candelaria.
